Our Approach to Sports Chiropractic Care

Our Sports Chiropractic method at Denner Chiropractic and Performance in Pineville, North Carolina blends the best of multiple techniques in the sports medicine world to give you an all-encompassing sports injury treatment plan.

Our treatment plans consist of a biomechanical assessment, hands-on manual therapy, and one-on-one sports rehabilitation/ physical therapy.

At Denner Chiropractic and Performance, we provide the latest treatment options to keep our patients performing at the highest level. We treat all kinds of athletes from youth sports to weekend warriors to world-class athletes.

Our Techniques

Joint Manipulation

“Motion is lotion, Rest is rust”. Our bodies are meant to move and either due to injury, poor stabilization, or sustained postures our joints lack movement and become restricted. Joint manipulation is a safe and effective treatment option to regain range of motion and strength while decreasing pain in the body.

Sports Injury Rehabilitation

Most physical therapy and rehabilitation specialties give their patients the same general rehab exercises no matter the injury. We have heard countless times that providers take a cookie-cutter approach to care by giving patients outdated, ineffective, and general rehab exercises.

We will always work with you one on one and develop a plan specifically for your case. We use Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization a powerful rehabilitation technique.

Kinesio-KT Taping

Kinesio Taping also known as KT taping is a popular method of dynamic taping. This allows for greater functional movement and stability than the conventional athletic tape. KT taping can be an amazing tool to have an immediate decrease in pain and an increase in performance.

Fascial Manipulation

Fascial manipulation is the identification of specific areas of the fascia system in connection with specific limited movements. Once a limited or painful movement is identified, then a specific point on the fascia system is then appropriately manipulated. This results in a decrease in pain and an increase in movement.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a popular tool in the sports world. The benefits are ideal for any athlete. Dry needling is proven to decrease inflammation, increase blood flow, decrease exercise-induced soreness, and increase mobility!

Active Release Technique

ART stands for Active Release Technique, it is a tool used for the treatment of many musculoskeletal conditions. We use ART to treat tight musculature allowing for a return of your body's function through a movement-based approach. ART is commonly used on plantar fasciitis, Golfers/Tennis elbow, Patellofemoral pain syndrome, and Iliotibial band syndrome.

When should I see a sports chiropractor?

At Denner Chiropractic & Performance we are highly trained sports medicine professionals that specialize in injuries related to your musculoskeletal system.

We have extensive training and experience in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of movement-based conditions with options for both acute and chronic sports injuries.

What to expect during your sports chiropractic office visit

During your first visit, we will sit down and get to know you. We will discuss your condition, pain points, and lifestyle factors.

Then we will perform a detailed exam that will consist of a biomechanical assessment. We will use our skill set to correctly identify your injury.

We will then educate you on your condition and explain a plan to get you out of pain and doing the activities you love as safely and quickly as possible.

We usually have time for treatment on the first visit which is always hands-on and one-on-one. Follow-up appointments will usually start with a quick functional assessment to determine your progress and to ensure your goals are met. We will then carry out our treatment plan!

What our patients have to say

How does Sports Chiropractic Work?

Sports Chiropractic is a general term used to describe the integration of multiple evidence-based techniques for the treatment of movement-based conditions.

Our main objective is to return your body’s overall function by removing pain, increasing joint range of motion, and building better movement patterns.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a typical treatment session?

Our new patient exams are 40 minutes to an hour long. This allows for ample time to diagnose and treat your complaint properly. A follow-up appointment is 20min in length and is spent with one-on-one personalized hands-on care.

How long is a typical trial of care?

Our typical trial of care usually ranges from 6-10 visits over a 3-5 week period. Patients typically see results on the first visit and gradually improve over time. Our goal is to empower you with the tools you need to manage your case and achieve long-lasting functional improvements.

How can you diagnose my injury without imaging?

Advanced imaging such as X-ray or MRI isn’t always needed to rule in or out a diagnosis. The use of orthopedic tests and functional movement screens is just as effective as some imaging tools. If one of our patients is suspected of having an injury that has caused structural damage we will refer out for further imaging.
