Q3: IS THE TRAINING RECOGNIZED BY PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS OR COUNT TOWARDS CONTINUING EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT?
A3: The course is eligible under most continuing education credit or professional development programs. There is a test at the end of each module and a final exam in which participants must achieve a score of 80% to receive their certificate of completion.
Q4: HOW CAN A CLINIC BECOME CERTIFIED?
A4: In order to be listed as a Certified Complete Concussions clinic, certain criteria must be met, including:
- At least one licensed health professional with valid Complete Concussions training and certification
- Sufficient clinical space in order to be able to run various elements of the program including exertion and balance testing. Even most small rehab spaces are sufficient (15×15 feet is plenty).
- Essential equipment includes a treadmill and stationary bike (note that equipment requirements are only for our physical rehabilitation clinics and those that will be providing baseline and return to sport management)
- A multi-disciplinary team is a bonus although not essential: Concussion requires a team-based approach, with professionals like medical doctors, physiotherapists and chiropractors, and support from various specialists such as neuropsychologists, massage therapists, osteopaths, athletic trainers/therapists, occupational therapists, and kinesiologists.
- Participation in re-certification training every three years, ensuring that skills and knowledge remain up-to-date in the ever-evolving field of concussion management.
Q5: CAN A HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONER BECOME A COMPLETE CONCUSSIONS PRACTITIONER WITHOUT BEING AFFILIATED WITH A CERTIFIED CLINIC?
A5: No. Practitioners can take the training course, however being a certified clinic requires registering your clinic and keeping up with ongoing literature and training. Complete Concussions wants to ensure the best treatment and management of concussions possible, as such our process requires standardization.
Q6: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BEING A CERTIFIED COMPLETE CONCUSSIONS CLINIC?
